I was using Uphill's Tactical Operator socks almost daily during my tour in Afganistan, for several months. To be honest, I was not sure how the socks would survive and keep my feet in good shape since weather, temparatures and terrains can change quickly in the country. Socks themselves seem very sturdy and very well made, consisting of mix of merino wool and bamboo as a main "ingredients".
Operator socks proofed all my doubts unnecessary. I would say that socks are at the best when you actually even don't think about them after slipping them on your feet and to combat boots. Pair of Operators did just that. They provided good support and comfy feeling throughout long, 12-14 hours day, without any issues, that would had made me to regret about choosing these socks. And more to add, when you take your boots finally off after a day's wearing, you usually get stunned of all the...well, you know odors plus both shoes and feet feel very moist - with Operators that was not the case! Feet in veey good shape, reasonably dry and there was no need to take your shoes to extra drying and "smell-off" measures, even after the days when temp reached +35-40 celsius. I guess that mix of real, quality bamboo and merino does that. Socks kind of absorbed all the moist into themselves - and of course were little moist - but that did not affect to performance or to your feet anyway, nor gave you any daunting odor effects, which usually happens with lower quality socks and materials.
Socks seem also to stand regular washes very well - they keep the form, fitting and functionability. If you are in need of excellent socks for a duty or freetime hiking etc. - do not hesitate and look for other options. Choose Uphill Sports Operator Socks!
